Louanne Lotz enjoys both performing and teaching and finds that one inspires the other. She has worked for many years as a sectional coach for four levels of the Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestra and for the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra Summer Music program. A lover of theatre, she has played for several years as a pit musician at Village Theatre and for many student productions. As an orchestral musician, she has played with the symphony orchestras of Akron, Canton, Boise, Yakima, Lake Washington, Federal Way, Auburn, Britt Festival, and the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra. She holds a history degree from the University of Washington and a masters' in violin performance. When not playing or teaching, she loves to read, spend time with her family, hike and learn new things.

Mark Lotz grew up in Portland, OR, the only string player in a family of professional pianists. After graduating with a degree in violin performance from University of Oregon, Mark played in regional orchestras throughout Oregon and Colorado,serving as principal second violin in the Colorado Springs Symphony. After meeting Louanne at the Britt Festival one summer, he moved to Seattle where together they raised two children while maintaining a busy studio and freelance life. Mark currently serves as Director of the string program at The Overlake School where he teaches Beginning and Intermediate strings, 5th grade General Music, and conducts the orchestra. In addition to instruction in classical music, Mark enjoys helping his students explore jazz, improvisation, and bluegrass styles.
